One day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. A large crowd soon gathered around him. So, he got into a boat and taught as the people stood on the shore. To illustrate a truth Jesus spoke this parable, saying: "A farmer went out to plant seeds. As he scattered them some dropped along the path. Birds ate them up. Seed sprang up in stony places, but without much soil or roots the plants quickly withered in the sun. Some fell among thorns and they sprang up and choked them. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear!”… “There is joy in the presence of God's angels when one sinner repents and returns to God.”
The Beatitudes of Jesus

One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the
mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he
began to teach them. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:1-10
